Soldier Sentenced to 12 Years in Prison for Raping a Girl

23 Jul Soldier Sentenced to 12 Years in Prison for Raping a Girl

Rogers County CF-2014-007

July 23, 2014 a Rogers County Judge sentences Daleon Cooper for lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16 and 1st degree rape of a child under 14.

Cooper entered a blind plea* weeks prior to the sentencing.

The investigation showed Cooper left his army post while on leave, returned to Rogers County and after having contact with the 13 year old girl through the internet he met her in person and had sex with her.

The Judge sentenced Cooper to 15 years in prison with three years suspended for the lewd or indecent acts charge and the same sentence for the 1st degree rape; sentences to run concurrently.  Cooper must remain on the sex offender registry for life.

* A blind plea is when a defendant admits guilt to the judge and the judge decides on sentencing.
