In January 9, 2012 48-year-old Michael Rice plead guilty and was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the first degree murder of his 81-year-old adoptive mother.

Rice waived his preliminary hearing in a Craig County court room and entered into a plea agreement putting him behind bars for life.
