Claremore, OKLA Dec 3, 2024 – Family and friends of loved ones lost to violent crime gather to share and remember.

District Attorney Matt Ballard explains “We shepherd family members as best we can through the criminal justice system in pursuit of justice.  Relationships are formed in the months and years following a crime.  This gathering is a chance to put the focus where it belongs; on the victims, not the criminals. We mourn the tragedies but more importantly, celebrate the lives of those who continue to live in the hearts of those across our communities.”

District Attorney Matt Ballard was joined by Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton to pray with survivors and hold a candle-lighting ceremony. Members of Ballard’s team also attended to offer support to those still trying to heal in the aftermath of violent crimes.

Friends and family placed ornaments on the Tree of Hope in remembrance of those they’ve lost.  The gathering also helped survivors meet others who’ve shared similar traumas and celebrate the lives of those taken too soon.
