Rogers County  CM-2014-985

Christian Allen Cargill is charged with jury tampering for approaching a juror and telling him to “vote not guilty” during the Vance Wright murder trial (CF-2012-536) last month.

An application to remove Cargill from Rogers County Drug Court is being prepared meaning he will also now face additional punishment for past crimes.

The juror was one of the alternates in the Wright murder trial.  The 12-member jury was able to complete their service and found Wright guilty of the first-degree murder of Kelsey Bray.

An office spokesperson says  “Jury tampering is highly unusual and we take this case very seriously.  Cargill’s actions extended an excruciating wait for Kelsey’s family as we had to figure out whether the trial could go forward or would have to start all over again.  Thankfully because Cargill approached an alternate juror the Judge was able to remove that juror and the trial continued resulting in justice for Kelsey.”
