22 Sep Rogers County Sex Offender Sentenced to Life in Prison
CF-2016-407
Jimmy R. Weeks has a history of sex crimes dating back to the late 80’s.
This afternoon a jury sentenced Weeks to 65 years in prison for failing to register as a sex offender and life in prison for living near a school.
He was caught by an investigator for Rogers County District Attorney Matt Ballard. Investigator Tommy Dunlap was serving on a multi-county task force at the time he discovered Week’s registered address was actually little more than the skeleton of a building filled with debris.
Dunlap was working with Deputy Bobby Walker on Operation STOP (Strategically Targeted Offenders Program) at the time.
It turned out Weeks was actually living near Foyil Elementary School and a daycare.
Following his arrest May 5, 2016 Weeks was charged with failure to register as a sex offender and being a sex offender living within 2,000 feet of a school. Prosecutor Edith Singer says it took the jury just 20 minutes to reach the guilty verdict.
Weeks was previously convicted on two cases of lewd molestation, one conviction for failing to register as a sex offender and one for living too close to a school.
Formal sentencing is set for November 3, 2017 at 9:30 a.m.
