FTC Warning: What NOT to Do When You Get a Call from Your Own Phone Number

07 Jul FTC Warning: What NOT to Do When You Get a Call from Your Own Phone Number

The phone rings, you check out the number before answering and the phone number you see is yours.  It would make anyone wonder what’s going on but the Federal Trade Commission warns do not give in to curiosity.  Do not pick up the call and if you happen to answer do not press any buttons or keys trying to get off of the call list or reach a human being because you are just letting scammers know they’ve got a real person on the hook.

The call may also appear to come from a government agency such as the State Attorney General’s Office or the IRS.
