Judge Finds Vinita Man Guilty of Sexual Abuse on a Child; Beginning When She Was Five

16 Oct Judge Finds Vinita Man Guilty of Sexual Abuse on a Child; Beginning When She Was Five

William Henry McAfee

Craig County
CF-2016-171

The prosecution showed William Henry McAfee (DOB 12/15/1959) began abusing his victim when she was just five years old and continued the abuse until she was about ten.

His victim had to take the stand and testify during the non-jury trial yesterday, October 16, 2018.  The defense attorney challenged why she waited until she was 14 years old to tell anyone.

The victim said that’s when her parents were going to let McAfee and his wife babysit her little sister and she couldn’t let McAfee violate her, too.

A forensic interviewer from the Children’s Advocacy Center in Claremore testified delayed disclosure is the norm.  She cited a statistic that more than 60% of child sexual abuse victims do not disclose until they are adults, if at all.

SVU Prosecutor Kali Strain says  “This survivor’s courage has made this community a safer place.  McAfee wasn’t going to stop.  He had to be stopped.”

Another woman testified that when she was in her early teens she twice walked into a room in the McAfee home and saw McAfee sexually abusing a different girl.

McAfee is set for sentencing December 10, 2018.  The minimum sentence for child sexual abuse is 25 years.
